DIY Pinecone Firestarters Tutorial from Hello Natural.

These are wax dipped cinnamon scented DIY Pinecone Firestarters.

I gave these as gifts to friends and family who had fireplaces - and they were a big hit. But packaging is key.

  1. I bought cheap medium sized galvanized buckets at the hardware store for $5 (online look at Sears, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, and Amazon).
  2. I sewed the cheapest burlap I could find into bags (you could glue gun it or use a large tapestry needle and yarn to roughly sew up the sides).
  3. I cut slits into the top of the burlap bags and strung a ribbon through them to make it a colorful drawstring bag.
  4. Most importantly, I did not skimp on the amount of pinecones I put in the bags (luckily I live where I can find pinecones covering the ground).

  1. First cut felt into an eight-inch-by-10-inch rectangle, and then fold into a conical shape.
  2. Fasten the folds tightly with a dab of fabric glue along the bottom.
  3. Next, cut faux fur into a triangle shape approximately four inches long by two inches wide, then attach along the inside edge of the felt cone.
  4. Add a pompom along the edge of the felt cone, and then slip onto the wine bottle.
